What is the life expectancy of MRCOOL? 

The average lifespan of an MRCOOL mini split is 12-15 years. However, that depends on proper installation, responsible use, and regular maintenance. Some systems will last 20 years before they need to be renewed/replaced.  

Is MRCOOL a Chinese company? 

MRCOOL is an American company. They are not a Chinese company and ship all products from Kentucky.  

Why does my MRCOOL mini split keep freezing up? 

The number one reason your MRCOOL mini split keeps freezing up is dirty or clogged air filters. To run properly, your AC system needs proper airflow. Dirty or broken coils can prevent the unit from working.  

Does the MRCOOL fan run all the time? 

Yes, the MRCOOL mini split system runs continuously. The compressor stopping doesn’t change that.  

How long is the MRCOOL warranty? 

The MRCOOL warranty comes with a five-year warranty on all parts, a seven-year warranty on the compressor, and a one-year warranty on the remote control unit.  

Why does my MRCOOL mini split keep turning off? 

A mini split turns off by itself because of a dirty air filter, a malfunctioning thermostat, a blocked condensate line, or low refrigerant. There could also be problems with the compressor or a bad electrical connection. Keep your mini split appropriately maintained to prevent issues before they start.  

How cold can a MRCOOL mini split handle? 

A MRCOOL mini split can handle temperatures as low as -13F in cold climates.  

What is the difference between a MRCOOL Gen 3 and a Gen 4? 

MRCOOL Gen 3 and Gen 4 mini split systems differ significantly in energy efficiency. Gen 4 offers greater energy efficiency than Gen 3. Which mini split has the longest warranty? 

Daikin provides the longest warranty in the industry. It is up to 12 years old and is limited to specific products, etc.  

Does MRCOOL turn off automatically? 

Yes. MRCOOL turns off automatically thanks to a timer function on its remote control. It has an “auto-off” feature that is easily programmable.  

How much electricity does MRCOOL use? 

The MRCOOL mini split system uses around 1,500 to 1,800 watts of power and pulls 12-15 amps on the 18,00 BTU model.  

Does a mini split ever turn off? 

Yes, mini splits are designed to turn off when they hit the preferred temperature. But the type of mini split you have determines the way it turns off.
